Difficult to sex, females will appear fuller in the belly than males.

Tank compatibility[edit]

A peaceful community fish that should be kept in shoals of 6 or more. Do not keep with larger predatory fish. Best not kept with long-finned slow moving fish.

Diet[edit]

Prefers meaty foods, will take pellet and flake as well as live/frozen foods such as brine shrimp and daphnia.

Feeding regime[edit]

Feed once or twice a day.

Environment specifics[edit]

Does best in acidic water and in a densely planted tank with some open swimming space. Does not like very strong currents and needs hiding places.

Behaviour[edit]

A peaceful shoaling fish.

Identification[edit]

A small and slender tetra which has a pale orange-silver body and a small black band topped with a white band on the caudal peduncle. The rest of the fins are mostly clear with some white edging in the dorsal and anal fins.
